DID YOU KNOW?
One hundred years ago as our congregation moved into the current building, two organizations for Methodist women were active in the church. They were the Women’s Missionary Society and Ladies Aid. In 1940 these two organizations merged and became the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Wesleyan Service came into being in 1945. Those two groups merged onto the United Methodist Women in 1972 with a membership of 267. This group functioned as a whole but also as small groups called Circles (15 of them in the late 1960s but gradually diminishing to 4 over time). In 2007 a choice was made to disaffiliate as a unit of United Methodist Women but to keep the Circles.
We’re excited to announce that we will be celebrating the 100 year birthday of Charlottesville UMC and our 2025 Consecration Sunday on the same day in early November!
We are collecting stories to share around these celebrations. Do you have a story to share? Contact Rex at rexhickman@comcast.net or Carolyn at carolynmcgee@cvillefirstumc.org. Thank you!!

Items can be left in the baskets in The Welcome Center or you can let us do the shopping for you by writing a check with "One Thing Ministry" in the memo line or donating on REALM. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity!
