For a wine made from a grape that virtually no one has heard of the Winzer Krems has proven to be enormously popular as a Sunday Special and we were very happy to discover that our wholesaler had more in the pipeline, just in time for the hottest days of the year. This is a crusher of a deal that will satisfy the palate for the wine drinking neophyte as well as the sophisticate. This new grape variety was bred at the Klosterneuburg Teaching and Research Centre for Viticulture and Pomology. The grape has high resistance and can therefore be produced in a more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and economical way. On the nose, it opens with ripe, straightforward Riesling fruit, apricots, orange zest, a touch of lemon balm, and delicate citrus notes; on the palate, it remains fruit-forward, mouth-filling, with a robust structure balanced by a lively acidity; beautifully substantial, clearly defined, with considerable depth and a fine finish. The other Riesling attribute it has is incredible versatility when it comes with food matchups. Don't worry about how to pronounce it until you've had a glass, or two!

There's a familiar pattern whenever our wholesaler presents us with a wine from Derby Wine Estates. First, it's "Who's this?", something we still haven't completely figured out as they have virtually no online or retail presence. Followed by, "What's this?", with our sampling showing again and again, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, wines of interest, focus, impact, and follow-through that demand from our staff The Most Important Question we ask when tasting: "Can we have more, please?" Fifteen 10 is a southern Rhone styled blend: 75% Grenache, 11% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, 6% Cinsault, 3% Counoise. It's BBQ Time!
