This Picpoul is grown on the sandy soils directly east of Lodi. Farmed without synthetics and with respect to natural amendments, we harvest these grapes just as the skins begin to soften to maintain natural acidity. Foot treading 25% for the haul back to the winery, the grapes are pressed, racked and fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures, without the use of SO2. Filtered to block malolactic fermentation. "This dry, tangy, light-bodied wine is laced with subtle mineral, walnut and apricot flavors that give it an enticing complexity. A sense of appetizing restraint is underlined by good acidity and a slight grip in the texture."

Alder Springs Vineyard is known for producing exceptional fruit, specifically focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Rhone red and white varietals on only about 140 acres are planted in Northern Mendocino. This crazy blend [Marsanne, Grenache, Picpoul, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah, Counoise and Roussanne] is perfect for Springtime! Lambrusco-like in color, this wine shows bright red fruit aromas with a hint of sun-baked pebbles. It is light-bodied but demonstrates more complexity on the palate. There are some soft fruit tannins, married with savory notes of dried herbs and faint salinity. The mid-palate has notes of cassis and cola while the finish fades slowly leaving behind delightful, candied cranberry and dried cherry flavors. Only 600 cases produced.
