Aglianico (ay-glee-AA-nuh-kow) is often referred to as the Nebbiolo of the South due to it's combination of alluring bouquet, dark fruit notes as well as strong tannic and acidic structure. It reaches its pinnacle in the regions of Campania, where in Taurasi it has achieved DOCG status as well as further south, where today's wine originates, in Basilicata, particularly in the sub region of Del Vulture. This example serves as an excellent jumping off point for getting acquainted with the varietal as it veers somewhat New World with the forwardness of its fruit component.

"Opens with darkly alluring blend of crushed blackberries and savory herbs, further complicated by smoke traces. Deep, yet juicy in style. racy acidity helps enliven its crisp wild berry fruits, and a tinge of sour citrus adds contrast toward the close. Finishes surprisingly fresh, yet long, with grippy tannins that tug at the palate as sage and licorice notes taper off."

Situated at 700' overlooking San Pablo Bay, Wildcat Mountain Vineyard produces fruit of great depth and intensity with terroir inspired elements from sharp diurnal effects, dense fog, and well drained volcanic soils. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts in a combination of new (20%) and slightly used (80%) French oak barrels. Only 125 cases produced and a great opportunity to dive into the deep end of the California Chardonnay pool!

"Lemon curd, spiced pear, vanilla, and toasty pastry aromas dominate the nose of this plush, sur-lie aged Chardonnay. A nice core of mixed citrus acidity on the palate leads to a long, floral, high-toned finish."

A few spirits have employed pure Icelandic waters in their production, however Reyka is the first to wholly take advantage of the country's resources as it is the first to be distilled and bottled there. Distilled from wheat and barley in a distillery operated by geothermal heat. The result is a super clean, premium vodka that has an environmental conscience. The entire operation is run by the abundant geothermal heat of the land, a factor that led to the naming of the spirit as Reyka (Ray-kuh) is an ancient Icelandic word for steam or smoke. Small batches of only 235 cases per distillation contain glacial water from the Grabok Spring, which runs through a 4,000 year old lava field. Researchers have tested the waters and found there to be zero impurities. The resulting vodka is a testament that if clean products go in, clean products come out.
