Full Moon Sunset Nature Walk in Ojai |
The Supermoon Sunset Nature Walk in March was a great success except for the clouds obscuring our view of the moonrise. So in the eternal quest for perfection, we're doing it again for the next full moon on Thursday, April 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Read more and register at

"All About Ojai" Herb Walk on Ojai Meadows Preserve & OVLC Native Plant Sale |
Join me for an herb walk on the Ojai Meadows Preserve as part of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy’s “
All About Ojai” series. This interpretive walk will have an emphasis on edible and medicinal plants, those classified as “herbs” for their culinary and medicinal properties.
You’ll learn to positively identify native plants in their natural habitats including those suitable for sustainable foraging. You’ll also discover their roles in the ecology of the area.
The walk is timed with the OVLC’s annual
Native Plant Sale and we will visit the sale at the beginning of the walk to allow participants to make purchases.

Spring Medicinal Plant Workshop |
Please join me and special guests Professor James Adams of USC School of Pharmacy and plant educator Enrique Villaseñor for a Spring Medicinal Plant Workshop on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dr. Adams has been a frequent and popular contributor to my events for the past seven years. This workshop is based on his ground-breaking pharmacology studies on local native plants.
Here's a link to my blog post about his latest research on the pain-relieving properties of Black Sage, one of the plants we will work with hands-on at the April 6 workshop.
All his workshops here have filled up so don't delay. Read more and register at

Bounty of a Working Medicinal Herb Garden |
We are so fortunate to have this jewel of a garden right here in Ojai. Gardener/herbalist Carol Wade and I invite you to join us on Saturday, April 27, at
Earth Island Medicinal Herb Garden — miraculously spared by the 2017 fire — to appreciate the nature still standing, the resiliency of the natural world and of our human bodies, and the many ways plant medicine lends itself to whole body/mind health.
You will spend a lovely morning touring this East End jewel with the garden’s founder, herbalist Carol Wade, as your guide. Enjoy the beautiful vistas as you learn about how to grow and care for the many herbal allies that live among us. Many of these gems are native.
We will gather a few for some of the herbal preparations we’ll be making in the afternoon. After our in-depth tour of the garden, we’ll break for lunch and reconvene at a downtown kitchen for some herbal medicine making.
