Fall Medicinal Plant Workshop on Saturday, October 6
Dr. James Adams of USC School of Pharmacy is returning this Saturday for another seasonal workshop -- his last in Ojai this year --  based on his groundbreaking pharmacological studies on local native plants. He is the co-author, with the late Chumash healer Cecilia Garcia, of Healing with Medicinal Plants of the West.

The morning plant identification walk will take place at two native plant gardens in downtown Ojai where Dr. Adams and I will identify and discuss the a wide variety of native plants.

The afternoon hands-on preparation session will be held at a community kitchen nearby. After the workshop, participants will receive a complete list of all plants that are identified and/or utilized as well as recipes and other info.

Dr. Adams will have copies of his book for sale and signing.

Another beautiful day on the Reyes Peak Trail
As expected, Pine Mountain lived up to its reputation as a premier destination in Ventura County. The weather was perfect, the forest peaceful as usual, the views stunning. And the group was engaged, curious, knowledgeable and fun to hike with.

The photo below of the Cuyama Valley as seen from Pine Mountain was taken by Jess Starwood during the hike.
