Hungry for Music Notes | April/May 2017
Hungry for Music is an organization that supports music education and cultural enrichment by acquiring and distributing quality musical instruments to underserved children with willing instructors and a hunger to play.
Our Magic Music Mission
I am about one fourth of the way through the Magic Music Bus Tour promoting Hungry for Music's outreach and music education across the United States. There have been many serendipitous and synchronistic moments that fuel the mission and keep me inspired. The driving can be grueling at times, but the beauty of the country and the anticipation of what I may experience at the next stop keeps me motivated. I write notes for each city (updated every few days) and then write a blog summary after every 10 cities. So far, I've written two updates. You can keep up with the Magic Music Bus Tour here:

Spirit of Harmony Foundation

Todd Rundgren's Spirit of Harmony Foundation has been, um, instrumental in rallying Todd fans around the country in collecting music instruments for Hungry for Music. This is a photo of instruments that Todd fan, Craig , collected around Fresno, California.

Thank you, Craig and Spirit of Harmony!
John Sullivan
The Clarinet Man
John Sullivan has been supplying clarinets to Hungry for Music for over two years. Whenever our inventory of clarinets is low and have more requests than we can handle, John is always there to pick up the slack. He has donated over two dozen clarinets during our partnership and recently shipped four clarinets to a Florida middle school where a teacher had requested instruments for kids in her class who cannot afford an instrument. John is pictured here with children from Al Abrigo de Dios Orphanage and Niños de La Guadalupana Via Del Campo who played with the students from the North Park Academy of the Arts at Carnegie Hall on April 14, 2017. John has been supporting the orphanage with clarinets since last year and to see them perform was a big thrill for him.

Donorly will help us with fundraising development to help us continue to grow our outreach.

Auction Cause will assist us in raising funds through auctioning music memorabilia that has been donated to us.

Jennifer Colvin will be assisting us with adminstrative responsibilities.

Roger Berry's Shovel Guitar
Check out the video of the amazing shovel guitar created by blues guitar-maker Roger Berry from Mississippi. We met Roger at the beginning of the Magic Music Bus Tour in March. Check out the story here. Click on “Shreveport”. Roger is going to donate an autographed shovel guitar for us to auction and raise funds to purchase music instruments for Mississippi public schools. Thank you, Roger! Stay tuned for auction details in a future newsletter.
