The Pick Me Up Foundation |
|
|
We are proud to feature one our partners this month, The Pick Me Up Foundation. Recently they held an instrument drive in Aaron's honor. They were able to collect 171 intruments & music related items. We are ecstatic that they have chosen to partner with Hungry for Music to distribute those instruments to children who need them.
The PMU Foundation is named after the last song Aaron was working on, Pick Me Up, with his band mates in Buffalo. Our hope is that every time a child has the opportunity to learn and appreciate music Aaron’s spirit will live on as well.(from the PMU Foundation site) |

Testimonial of the month:
Received this from the Seattle Indian Health Board who support programs for youth ...
"THANK YOU so much for the saxophone
I love it very much and I will take good care of it. if I did not have this instrument I would not be able to participate in band. but now
I am able to practice almost everyday.
I really enjoy learning how to play the saxophone. I hope one day
that I will become a professional player."

Roman with his baritone saxophone. Hungry for Music donated a trombone, clarinet, trumpet, in addition to the baritone sax to West Oak High School Marching Band in Westminster, SC.
This note is from Roman's dad: "You may find it interesting that the HS Marching Band that Roman is a member of recently went to the South Carolina State Finals and although they didn't win, it was the first time in school history they ever made it to State!!!"

Music for Life Donation
Hungry for Music received an email from Skip Chaples, the founder of MusicforLife.org, who said he had a "few" instruments to donate to us. Well, as you can see the Hungry for Music instrument hauler cannot fit another instrument inside. Music for Life donated three dozen instruments including acoustic guitars, classical guitars, electric basses, ukuleles, mandolin, an amp, and a trumpet. They also threw in acoustic, electric, and bass strings. Plus a few empty guitar cases, which we can always utilize. Wow! We are so grateful.
