Winter into Spring Newsletter
March 2019

It’s been very busy at Hungry for Music since our last communication in December. Hungry for Music finished 2018 with 1,013 music instrument donations, the second

consecutive year that over 1,000 were distributed.  We increased the number of school and after-school programs that we support, and continued to support social workers who

have clients who can benefit from having their own music instrument. Hungry for Music also increased the number of countries we have donated to 30 in our history, by adding five.

Once again, I have delayed sending out a newsletter and we have accumulated enough material for at least two.   Here’s the first, with the second soon to follow, that will include some exciting news about Hungry for Music happenings in 2019, our 25th year!

Peace and harmony through music,

The Magic Music Harp Makes it to LA!!

In case you missed it,  here’s the link to the story.

The harp made it to the Young Musicians Foundation In Los Angeles.

"We cannot express enough our gratitude for the beautiful pedal harp given to us from such an incredible donor. We had been looking for a pedal harp for more than a couple years and thanks to you, your time, energy and faith, the luck of connecting with such a remarkable donor to give this unbelievable gift to YMF means more than we can say.

Our harp scholarship student (Melissa) in particular was over the moon to see the harp in person and to finally play on a pedal harp after years of patience was such a thrill. She can finally play in all 12 keys and perform more challenging repertoire, which she is very excited about embarking on this year. This gift will not only transform Melissa's life but will also impact future harp students that come through our program.

We are so grateful to have connected with Hungry for Music and thank you for making the joy of music possible and to help us make one of our dreams come true. YMF is very fortunate to have Hungry for Music within our family and will definitely send updates about our program and our students as they continue their musical growth.

Please enjoy the attached photo of Melissa, our harp scholarship student and her teacher, Liza.

With deep appreciation,

The YMF Team

We are grateful for the effort by Teddy Price for his eagle scout service project.   He is pictured here, with his dad Winston, next to some of the instruments he collected.

"My sister and I recently did a trip to Ghana, Africa and stayed at a children’s shelter for two weeks. We brought the ukuleles that you donated along with some others and taught the children how to play. They loved it!

Thank you so much for donated the ukuleles, it made a large impact on these children’s lives."
