Dear Parents,

Anti-Bullying Fortnight

The Anti-Bullying Fortnight (ABF) for the current school year (2013 – 2014) will be conducted from Sunday, 3rd to Monday, 18th, November 2013. The ABF will include a variety of activities conducted by Homeroom groups, clubs, counselor, and subject-area teachers. These activities include:

  1. Guest Speakers: Three speakers, one speaker in each of grades 9, 10 & 11. The speakers will share their experiences regarding bullying.
  2. Hosting a group of Hope Institute students, on Tuesday, 5 November, 2013, from 09:30 – 11:30. The Hope Institute students will meet with Grade 9 students in Al-Rashed Hall, where activities will be conducted under the supervision of the Secondary School Counselor.
  3. Impulse Control Activity conducted by the counselor with grade 10 students on Wednesday, 30 and Thursday 31, October 2013.
  4. Homeroom groups: presentations on bullying; stories about bullying; posters on bullying; videos on the types of bullying (verbal, physical, relational and cyber), skits, etc. to be presented during extended assemblies.
  5. Sharing personal experience: students and teachers.
  6. Creating anti bullying ribbons, t-shirts, mugs, caps. This will be done in collaboration with the school clubs, Honor Society and Student Congress.
  7. Workshop for teachers on Relationships
  8. In subject areas:

i) Art: paintings

ii) Arabic & English: create poems, write essays, etc..

iii) Computer: create posters, comics, etc.

iv) Islamic Studies: sympathy & empathy.

v) Other subjects, as possible.
