Dear Parents,
Subject: "Measure of Academic Progress" Tests
I would like to start by thanking you for your constant support and cooperation to help our students achieve their potential.
Starting Mid October through November 2016, students in Grades 3 to 9 will take tests to help them identify their progress in three of the major subjects they study at school, namely, English, Math and Science.
The tests are called ‘Measure of Academic Progress’ (MAP). These are web-based tests and will be conducted in the school’s computer labs twice yearly, the second time will be towards the end of the school year.
We would like to assure you that students must not worry about preparing for these tests and that their results will not influence the students’ averages in any way, as the purpose of running them is to help the students, parents and teachers to identify areas of strength and weakness, paving the way for continuous progress. As parents, you will receive a report showing your child’s progress in the tested subjects.
Since the tests do not include special accommodations for students with limited English or those with Learning challenges, these students will be exempted from taking the MAP.
We kindly ask you to encourage your child to do his/her best while taking these tests, which will run during class time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kamal Abdel-Nour
School President
