Dear Parents of Grade 10 and 11 Students,
As part of the school’s continued efforts to help students prepare for university admissions, all students in Grade 10 and 11 will take the PSAT Test on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
The results of this test are indicative and will not affect the student’s school grade. Kindly mark your calendars and ensure that your son/daughter attends this important test.
The aim of the test is:
- To receive feedback on your son/daughter’s strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for university study. Your son/daughter can then focus on preparation in these areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
- To see how your son/daughter’s performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to university.
- To help prepare for the SAT. Your son/daughter can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions he/she will see on the SAT.
- To receive information from colleges when your son/daughter checks "yes" to Student Search Service.
Quick facts:
- Duration: 2 hours and 45 minutes
- Sections: Math (covering algebra, geometry, a little trigonometry)
Evidence-based Reading & Writing ( passage-based questions accompanied by tables, graphs, and charts)
- Cost: Fees are paid by the school – no registration required
- Maximum score: 1520 (each section is scored between 160-760)
PSAT Preparation:
Each student received an official PSAT Guide Book during Math class, one month ahead of the scheduled assessment. The student is encouraged to go through the material at home to familiarize himself/herself.
In addition, the Guide Book contains a full practice test that can be completed at home.
Dismissal time:
All students will be dismissed at 11:15 am on the day of the test.
Kindly arrange for transportation accordingly.
Regards,
Chaouki Barake – Secondary Principal
