Welcome to the
2019-2020 School Year

Dear Parents, 

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and our students all the very best for the new academic year. The teachers have been busily preparing their lessons and classrooms and I know they are all very excited to meet you. 

To our new parents, a very warm welcome to our IKNS family.

I would like to bring to your notice a few points regarding the start of the year.

Day 1 Procedures

Monday, 2nd September 2019.

  • Grade 1 students will gather in the KG Hall, where their familiar KG2 teachers will greet them and take them to their new Grade 1 classes. 

  • Grade 2 students will gather in the Main Hall.

  • Grade 3 to 5 students will gather in the Investcorp Hall.

 

Tuesday, 3rd September 2019.

KG2 students will gather in the KG Hall, where their familiar KG1 teachers will greet them and take them to their new KG2 classes. 

Wednesday, 4th September 2019.

 

KG1 students will be directed to their Homeroom classes.

Stationery

Please note that all stationery will be provided by the school and pencil bags can be kept for homework activities.

Start and End Times KG1 and KG2

7:40 to 12:30

KG1 and KG2

Students to be collected from their Homerooms.

Students arriving after 7:50am must report to the Kindergarten Reception. 

Start and End Times Grade 1 to 5

7:40 to 13:50 Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

7:40 to 13:10 Tuesday

Students to be collected from their Homerooms.


Students arriving after 7:50am must report to the Elementary Reception.


After School Activities

KG1 and KG2

Students staying at school after 12:30, must be registered in an After School Program. 

Registration for KG students is online and a link will be sent via SMS.

Grade 1 to 5

Students staying at school after 13:50, must be registered in an After School Club. 

Registration for G1 to G5 students is online and a link will be sent via SMS.

ID Cards

KG1 to Grade 3 

ID cards have been allocated to all KG1 to Grade 3 parents. ID cards will need to be presented to the registration teacher on collection of your child. Please ensure that the person collecting your child has the ID card to present. If you were not able to collect your ID card, they are still available for collection from the Kindergarten Reception. If you have misplaced or forgotten the card, please visit the Elementary Reception (Grade 3) or the Kindergarten Reception (KG1 to G2)  for a Green Pass. 

Kindly complete the family ID card application form that was sent digitally earlier to all parents of students in KG1 up to Grade 1.  This information is needed to produce a new photo family ID card to be used to access the school and will replace the ID cards that you collected. 

Uniforms

Uniforms are available from House of Uniform. 

We will be flexible with uniforms for the month of September as some sizes might be out of stock or adjustments are needed.

New students, including all KG1 students, will be allocated to their P.E. teams during the next week. A white top and black pants can be worn until students purchase the new P.E. outfit.

 

Communication

 

KG1 to Grade 2 - Class Dojo 

Parents of KG2 to Grade 2 students, Dojo accounts will be updated automatically. KG1 and new students from KG2 to Grade 2 will receive their access codes soon via email. 

Parent communication will be through the Dojo platform. The Unit Overviews, Skills Lists, Weekly Newsletters, Important Dates as well as School Notices, will be communicated via this platform. 

G3 to 5 - Schoology

Grade 3 to 5 students use Schoology as their Virtual Learning Environment and you will be given access to their accounts to monitor their learning.

Grade 3 to 5 parent communication will be through the Schoology platform. After creating a Parent Schoology Account, please join the 2019-2020 Parent group using this access code. FPD5-ZJ93-G9VSX

Returning parents kindly exit the 2018-2019 group and join the 2019-2020 group.

Grade 3 parents will be sent details on how to set up their Schoology Accounts as well as the access codes. 

The Unit Overviews, Skills Lists, Weekly Newsletters, Important Dates as well as School Notices, will be communicated via this platform. 

Laptops/Devices

It is a requirement in Grade 3 to 5 that students have a laptop or tablet (not mobile phone), which will be used for learning activities throughout their school journey. A letter with the specifications will be sent home. All IT related activities are planned and to ensure our student’s online safety, most links will be through Schoology. This year our students will also use Google Classroom.
