Dear Parents, 

We would like to inform you on the upcoming week of events planned by our Student Congress, that will take place in our Secondary School.  Student Congress is planning a week to celebrate school enthusiasm and cooperation; an opportunity to emphasize IKNS unity.  We have named this week, “IKNS and Proud Week”. The message of the week is to celebrate unity, creativity and inclusivity.  Students are asked to come to school each day dressed in a certain theme.  Said themes have been carefully discussed and chosen so that they align with the values of our school and our community. Our themes are listed below:  

Sunday Hero Day: This asks students to examine those in their lives and community in which they admire and wish to emulate.  The goal is to dress as that person to express their appreciation for this person that they consider to be their hero. 

Mix-Match Monday:  This day allows students to coordinate an outfit with their peers that celebrates those characteristics that make us unique. 

Retro Tuesday:  Students are asked to reflect on a time period in history in which they identify and admire and come dressed in clothes/fashion that is both school appropriate and in fitting with the fashion of that era. 

Identical Wednesday: We would like to give students the opportunity to creatively express their solidarity by dressing in school appropriate outfits that show their friendship, teamwork, and cooperative attitude. 

Throwback Thursday: Students are encouraged to dress in an outfit from their past in order to encourage an expression of who they are, their roots, and to share a part of themselves with their peers that they would not normally be able to express. 

An additional purpose to this week is to lead up to the first Student Congress event of the year, our Annual Football Tournament on November 1st.  This week is to encourage students to attend an event that promotes teamwork and friendly competition between students of all grades.  We trust that this week will be filled with creativity, inclusivity and unity!
