Care bag available to support disabled children in hospital

Parents and carers of children over the age of 14 with learning disabilities and autism in West Sussex can now receive a care bag for their child if they are admitted for a hospital stay.

The care bag is designed to ease the stress and anxiety that children with learning disabilities and autism may experience when attending health care appointments.

Have you heard about toy libraries?

Toy libraries are available across a number of libraries and family hubs in West Sussex.

They operate in a similar way to book libraries; you can borrow from a large selection of toys and resources to support your child’s developing needs and interests.

For a one-off fee of £2.00, you can access a range of toys (aimed at children under five) and sensory toys and equipment (for disabled children and young people aged between 0-19).

Free school meal voucher scheme

Thanks to funding from the Government's Household Support Fund, West Sussex County Council have announced that families with free school meal eligible children will be entitled to a voucher for every free school meal eligible child they have during the Easter break.

Eligible families in West Sussex will be entitled to a £15.00 voucher per child, per week - a total of £30.00 for the Easter break.
