Grants for families of disabled children

Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.

If you are a parent or carer of a child with a disability or serious illness, Family Fund may be able to help through their grant program. They provide financial support to families on low incomes, helping to cover costs related to education, health, and essential living expenses.

Their grants aim to alleviate the everyday pressures and enhance the well-being of your family. Check your eligibility at the link below and see how a grant could make a difference in your life.

Direct Payment employer events

Whether you are getting started with Direct Payments, are interested in becoming a personal assistant, or are looking to meet new people and learn new skills, Independent Lives runs a range of online events, which you can view and book at the link below.

Our Direct Payment employer events provide essential insights into effectively managing personal assistants, navigating legal responsibilities, and enhancing the lives of those you support. The events are all free to attend.

Disabled facilities grants

Disabled facilities grants are provided by local councils for a range of home adaptations that help disabled people to live more independently in their own homes.

The grants mainly help to make sure that disabled people can move more freely and safely around their home and use essential facilities.

Grants are provided for a range of home adaptations which can include:

• Building ramps and widening doors
• Installing stairlifts
• Adapting kitchens for wheelchair users
• Converting bathrooms into shower rooms
• Adapting toilet facilities.
