Independent Lives impact report 2023

Our annual impact report highlights the progress we've made toward our strategic objectives, and outline where we're going to focus our work over the following years to achieve our vision of a fairer society where everyone can fulfil their potential.

Every day our staff support disabled people and those with health and social care needs to live their lives independently. Whether providing care and support in someone's home or information and advice over the phone, the work of Independent Lives continues to have a tremendous impact on people's lives.

Our 2023 Impact Report breaks down the support that our individual services provide. For example, last year our care staff provided over 50,000 hours of support to people in their homes, our payroll service processed over 16,000 payrolls and our information and advice team provided support over 7,100 times – all phenomenal achievements.

LGBT+ Young people's voice survey

The 'Children, Young People and Learning' department at West Sussex County Council (WSCC) is organising LGBT+ training and awareness events to celebrate Pride month.

The purpose of these events is to increase the staff's understanding of LGBT+ terminology, experiences, and support services, so that they can better support LGBT+ young people and their families.

If you are an LGBT+ young person, WSCC want to know about your experiences of being supported by a professional, such as a social worker, child and family support worker, teacher, or teaching assistant.

Your feedback can be about good practices, like something a professional has said or done to support you in your LGBT+ identity or exploration, which has positively impacted you. Or, you can share your top tips for professionals working with LGBT+ or LGBT+ questioning young people.

Lastly, you can also share bad practice, which refers to something a professional has said or done that was not supportive of your LGBT+ identity or exploration.

The survey closes on Friday, 24 May 2024.
