Worthing council's beach wheelchair service is back for 2024

Worthing’s two beach wheelchairs and single all-terrain rollator are now available for public hire again following a review of the service.

The child’s beach wheelchair and rollator were given to Worthing council last year following a brilliant fundraising campaign. Worthing council launched their beach wheelchair service last summer, but user feedback highlighted that the system wasn't suitable for many people, so it was paused until a suitable solution could be found.

South Downs Leisure have agreed to store the equipment at Splashpoint Leisure Centre. Splashpoint is an accessible venue, which also has a Changing Places toilet.

Take part in the summer reading challenge at your local library

This year's summer reading challenge is in full swing. Join Amelia, Riley, Bob the dog and their friends as they find new and creative ways to complete this year's challenge.

The summer reading challenge is run every year by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries across England and Wales, designed to keep children reading throughout the summer holidays.

To complete the challenge, children can borrow any book they'd like: stories, picture books, comic books, even audiobooks.
