Debbie's story

 

In the latest instalment of our stories series, we sat down and spoke to Debbie about her experience using Direct Payments.

 

Debbie lives in Horsham and has been using Direct Payments since 2007 to employ a team of personal assistants to support her and enable her to live a full, independent life. 

MPs suggest benefits are ‘too low’ to meet basic living costs

 

A recent report by the Work and Pensions Committee, calls on the Government to act to increase financial support for those who need it most. 


The cross-party group of MPs has proposed the introduction of a new standard for determining benefit levels that would accurately reflect the cost of living.
