JSMW Helping Hands
Jai Jinendra,
In spirit of Jain principles and random acts of kindness, JSMW is lauching a new intiative called JSMW Helping Hands.
JSMW Helping Hands will try to match a community member needing help, with community member who can help.
Some examples for JSMW Helping Hands acts of kindness:
- Rides: Seniors may need rides to come to the Derasar or to another JSMW event
- Can you give a hand by offering a ride?
- Time: A family member may be sick or disabled for a prolonged time
- Can you give a hand by relieving the family for a short time and give some company?
- Can you give a hand by helping run a few errands?
- Skill: A member may need some basic 101 knowledge on technology or even school work?
- Can you give a hand by offering computer lessons or basic internet usage?
- Can you give a hand with car repairs, cell phones updates, even tutoring, etc.?
Here is how JSMW Helping Hands will work:
- For Person In Need of Help/Hand: Members who need help please call 301-578-6454..
- When you need a helping hand, please call the phone # and one of committee members from JSMW's Act of Kindness will get the details
- For Person Who Can Give Help/Hand: We will have a WHATSAPP group for those members willing to give a hand.
- All helping hand requests will be posted on the WHATSAPP group. If a volunteer is able to meet that request, the committee member will pass the volunteers information to the person in need.
Please note, all helping-hand requests may not be honored. Everybody will be required to be respectful and mindful of privacy.

As with past 10 yeears, once again, JSMW has agreed to prepare Jain meal for 2,000+ needy and homeless people in DC-Metro area. This means 2,000+ individuals will be eating Jain meals on this day (and not eating meat), saving the lives of countless animals
(Giving them Abhay Daan).
Event Date: Saturday, May 11th, 2019
Time: 8:30am to 1:00pm
Dress Code: Kurta, Salwar/ Long Pants, Shirt, Shoes, No Sandals. No exposed mid-riff
Address: The D.C. Central Kitchen, 425 Second Street NW, Washington DC, 20001
We will save hundreds of lives by serving them JAIN FOOD. We talk and preach about our Jain Principle of Ahimsa (Non Violence) and here is the opportunity to put it in practice.
This is an excellent opportunity to perform community service, publicize Jainism to the mainstream, and volunteer services directly to the needy. Names of about 25 to 30 dedicated volunteers will be collected to help us prepare and pack the food.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact
Bhupesh Mehta at
bhupesh@bhupeshmehta.com / 240.455.4524, or
