All Of Us Feb 19th Heart Health Event - Post event Follow-Up

Thank you to all who attended our first Wellness Series event on heart health this past weekend! We had a wonderful conversation with cardiologist Dr. Neel Shah and the NIH’s health science policy analyst Dr. Rubin Baskir.

Dr. Neel K Shah

Dr. Shah explained about how the heart works and how lifestyle can impact your risk of heart disease. He simplified this complex topic by taking examples from engines, plumbing structures, and other common aspects of life! Additionally, he showed actual videos of a functioning heart and described how the heart functions. Dr. Shah also summarized changes to Jain lifestyle to make it more heart healthy. Considering the interest and questions for Dr. Shah, JSMW will plan another event to continue this “Journey through the Heart” soon.

Dr. Rubin Baskir

Dr. Baskir spoke about the difference research can make in the future of heart health care and how the All of Us Research Program is making diverse health data a reality. You can learn more about All of Us and how to get involved at JoinAllofUs.org/TogetherDMV. If you want to see what health studies are already using data from All of Us, check out the data browser: https://databrowser.researchallofus.org/.

We’d love to hear about your experience and how we can improve future events, please share feedback about the event here.

If you weren’t able to attend, you can watch the recording here.
