Panch Tirth Yatra Update

Jai Jinendra:

It is our pleasure to report back to you that we had a very pleasant, joyous, and successful religious bus trip to various Jain Temples in Pennsylvania and New Jersey area during the Oct 7-8, 2023 weekend.  This trip was not possible without the contribution, hard work, and tireless efforts put in by the Planning Team.  A big kudos goes to them for organizing such a successful trip that had two buses visit other Jain Centers around us.

Listed below is the summary of the Panch Tirth Yatra 2023:

We had 96 yatris (42 families total) officially registered for this trip spread between two big buses: 84 adults, 12 children below 12 years.

We visited five Jain temples: Cherry Hill Jain Temple, Franklin Jain Temple, Siddhachalam, Jain Center of Allentown, and Jain Society of South Central PA.
Our overnight stay for yatrees at Siddhachalam.

We had two family who became a Bus Yatra / Trip Sponsors:

  • Amit & Harshada Patani
  • Kantilal & Meeta Gangar

We had two family who became a labhpati for each temple we visited:

  • Amit & Harshada Patani / Chhaya Sandip Shah (Cherry Hill Jain Temple)
  • Amit & Harshada Patani / Praful & Pratima Shah (Franklin Jain Temple)
  • Amit & Harshada Patani / Nemchand Bhai, Hemlata Ben, Dimple & Yatra Chheda (Siddhachalam)
  • Amit & Harshada Patani / Jayesh & Rupa Mehta (Jain Center of Allentown)
  • Amit & Harshada Patani / Parag & Nirali Mehta (Jain Society of South Central PA)

On Saturday, Oct 7th, we departed our Jain Center at 7:25 AM and on Sunday, Oct 10th, we returned back to our Jain Center at 9:14 PM. The yatrees’ age span ranged from 26 months to 83 years old. Despite this wide gap, each yatree had fun as well as had the chance to participate in various religious activities, including Seva Pooja, Snatra Pooja, Bhakti geet at various temples, just to name a few.

We take this opportunity to thank many volunteers who dedicated their time and energy in making this yatra so successful, fun and enjoyable.

Call For Speakers

Pranam JSMW Members!

The Pathshala Speakers Team is looking for help to present at a Pathshala Speaker Series talk on Medicare. This would include topics such as explaining the enrollment process, lessons learned and other useful information, especially relevant during Open Enrollment Period of October 15 - December 7.

We are planning a October 29 session during Pathshala, and would ideally have several speakers to speak to different aspects/components, and targeted towards the Pathshala Parents, as some of them have older parents who are or may soon navigate the Medicare process.

If you are knowledgeable about this topic and are willing to do an informational session for our group please reach out to the Speaker Series Team on

  • Snatra pooja illustrates the celebration of two of the auspicious (out of five) events (Kalyanaks) occurring in the last life of Tirthankar Bhagwan.
  • This Puja and celebration is for all Tirthankaras and not specific to any particular one.
  • Two Kalyanaks narrated in this Puja are Chyavan (conception) and Janma (birth) of Tirthankar. After this life the soul of Tirthankar reaches its climax and achieves liberation from life and death cycle (attains Moksha).
  • This Puja recital explains the effect of Bhagawan’s birth on the whole universe, narrates how glorious the occasion was and how much joys were shared by all the living souls including all heavenly souls.
  • Puja in the end includes Ashta Prakari Puja and wishes Shanti (peace) for all living beings and rejoices the event by performing Aarti, Mangal Divo, Shanti Kalash and Chaitya Vandan.
Ghee boli for Aarti and Mangal Divo and Shanti Kalash.
However, If we have sponsors for the Poojathen Shanti Kalash Labh is given to sponsor family. Ghee boli is still done for Aarti Mangal Divo
