At the recent Khanan Vidhi program, the Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington (JSMW) broke ground for its new Jain Center, envisioned to be an all-inclusive 24,000 sq. ft. facility connected to a 6,000 sq. ft. temple complex. The great Jain vidhikarak, Shri Narendrabhai Nandu, enthusiastically conducted the auspicious 3-day program. The "Khanan Vidhi" participants broke the ground using unique silver-plated pickaxes (trikams), at each spots where deities and other key temple flagstones will be situated when it is fully built.
The program was graced by Jain Samaniji Dr. Suyashnidhiji, and Samaniji Sudhannidhiji. Shri Piyushji Jain, Managing Director of PK Groups of Companies, Ahmedabad, India, was the chief guest of the program who traveled from India especially for the program. The program was also graced by Dr. K. H. Sancheti, who is decorated with the most distinguished Indian civilian awards- Padmashree, Padmabhushan, and the Padmavibhushan - for his exceptional services in the fields of Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Medical Education, and Research.
