Dear ,
Welcome to the July edition of the Japan Travel Trade Newsletter.
It was great to meet some of you in person at the Singapore ILTM earlier this month! We hope you obtained some useful information and connections from our Japan booth.
Japan has well and truly hit summer with some high temperatures of late. People may be put off by the heat of the Japanese summer, but it is personally one of my favourite times of the year in Japan with local festivals (or 'matsuri') in abundance, beaches open to swim in, beer gardens open on roof top locations in cities, and lots of delicious summer treats like kakigori (shaved ice) to be eaten!
Read on for Japan summer travel inspiration, secluded tropical islands, and more!

Insider Tip
#32: Fireworks Festival or 'Hanabi'
Fireworks are a big deal in Japan, and there is no better time to see firework displays in Japan than during July and August at 'hanabi', or fireworks festivals.
Patrons often wear a yukata or jinbei (robes worn in the summer time) and stroll around with friends and family.
While hanabi happens across the country, major cities host high-profile displays, all showcasing the work of big-name pyrotechnics artists over several hours. Additionally, there are often many food stalls selling festival foods like yakisoba or takoyaki. Why not try some of Japan's delicious street food while enjoying the glittery spectacle that hanabi has to offer!
You can find a plethora of information on hanabi on our JNTO website or our JNTO July 2024 Events Calendar.

They say that some of the more difficult places to get to are the most rewarding. Yonaguni Island in Okinawa Prefecture is the ultimate secluded island. There is world class scuba diving, stunning coastal landscapes and even Yonaguni ponies that run free around the island!
