While it may be cooling down here in Australia and New Zealand, the weather is definitely warming up in Japan! Many may be put off by the heat of the Japanese summer in major cities. However, it is actually the perfect time to get into nature for the summer 'green season'. Think picturesque beaches in Okinawa, hiking in lush greenery in Hokkaido , mountain bike riding in Nagano, or river rafting in Tokushima to name just a few experiences.

Lotus Festival (Miyagi Prefecture)

 

Take a cruise boat through the vast field of lotus flowers at Lake Inzunuma-Uchinuma during the locally run Lotus Festival from late July - end of August.  Half day tours with local cuisine experiences are also on offer this year through the Expo 2025 Official Experiential Travel Guide. One of the latest additions to teamLab exhibition collection, this unique outdoor exhibition near the Izura Coast in Ibaraki Prefecture is set amongst nature on former rice terraces. New rules for climbing Mt Fuji in 2025 

Are your clients planning on climbing Mt Fuji this summer?  There are some important new rules to be aware of for the 2025 season to help preserve the famous peak and ensure safety. Check for more details here

Tokyo Luxury Hotels Update
 
Several iconic Tokyo hotels have just completed, or are nearing completion, of their transformative renovations that promise to deliver even more luxury and sophistication. These include the recently renovated ANA InterContinental Tokyo and Sheraton Miyako Hotel Tokyo (premium floor 'Midori' rooms). In addition to the Hyatt Regency Tokyo set to have their renovations completed by July 2025 and Park Hyatt Tokyo set to reopen their doors after renovations in October 2025.

The town of Takachiho is a true hidden gem in the southern island of Kyushu. Take in the majestic Takachiho Gorge in a row-boat (bookings recommended) and explore neighboring ancient shrines like Ama-no-Iwato and spiritual caves like Ama-no-Yasukawara . Another highlight are the local yokagura traditional dance performances that are held every night at Takachiho Shrine. Definitely consider Takachiho on your client's travel itinerary to Japan!
