Become an Election Inspector for Historic 2024 Elections
 
With the passage of Michigan Proposal 2022-2, Kalamazoo County is gearing up for an expansion of in-person Early Voting for the 2024 elections, beginning with the presidential primary. As part of this historic moment, Kalamazoo County is actively seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Election Inspectors. 
 
Election Inspectors are compensated at a competitive rate of $16 per hour, with site chairpersons receiving $18 per hour. All Election Inspectors are required to complete the necessary training provided to become certified Election Inspectors, which will be compensated.
To become an Election Inspector in Michigan, you must:
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be a registered voter in Michigan if 18 years or older. Individuals aged 16 – 17 must be Michigan residents.
  • Not have a felony or election crime conviction.
  • Not be an election challenger, a candidate, a member of a candidate's immediate family, or a member of the local board of canvassers.
  • Affiliate with a political party (party registration is not a requirement, but affiliation disclosure is mandatory).

Dog Licensing Season Coming Soon

Michigan State Law requires all dogs to be rabies vaccinated and licensed at 4 months old. Licenses must be renewed yearly between Dec. 1 and March 1. Licenses may be purchased in-person or via mail: 1316 Lamont Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49048. Renewal licenses may also be purchased online. Full-year licenses for unaltered dogs are $45, and licenses for altered dogs are $15.

Attorney II - Assistant Prosecutor

Represents the citizens on behalf of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) by reviewing, enforcing, and litigating criminal, child abuse, neglect, delinquency, child support, and other quasi-criminal and civil matters. Advocates for the OPA's position in various hearings, such as preliminary examinations, motions, restitution, and probation violations.
 
 
 
Housing Project Manager

Assist with leveraging and deploying the Housing Millage dollars. Manage and leverage outside grants and funding opportunities and drive housing outcomes by partnering with public, private, and non-profit housing providers and developers to create a deep and lasting impact in rental subsidies, permanent housing, and related supportive services.
 
 
Sheriff's Deputy -
Airport Security
D-12 (A) $16.93/hour
 
Under contract with the Airport Authority, to provide armed security to the facilities, grounds, employees and patrons of the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport in conformance with the Federal Aviation Agency and the Transportation Safety Administration. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Building Operator - 24/7
K105 (A) $18.93/hour
 
Maintains County buildings and grounds, and identifies and addresses concerns with structures, systems, and equipment. This 24-hour, 365-day emergency response position oversees buildings with operation hours longer than the business week. The position is located at the County Jail. 
 
 
Human Resources Specialist
K109 (A) $29.25/hour
 
Supports recruiting, payroll, safety, and employee benefit administration. Oversees and coordinates the production of routine, retirement, and special payrolls. Processes, maintains and updates transaction records such as deductions, withholdings, and action forms.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Court Services Specialist
K105 (A) $18.93/hour
 
Provides administrative support on a variety of court-related activities. Receives, processes, and files legal court filings, pleadings, and other documentation in accordance with the legislative and court procedures. Reviews and verifies all received information in preparation for warrants and conditional bonds.
