                                            Voice of Vanishing Beauties!

TCF collaborated with Sanctuary Nature Foundation and Conservation India for a campaign to highlight the 'conservation emergency' to save the Great Indian Bustard (GIB). Through ‘Kids for Tigers’ which is a brain child of Mr Bittu Sahgal, Chief Editor of Sanctuary Asia magazine, school kids were also roped in to support this campaign.

As a part of this initiative, students of The Shri Ram School, Aravali played a crucial role in ensuring that their voices are heard to protect the GIB, the bird that was once a probable candidate for the position of India's ‘National Bird’.

During the mentoring session, the students were informed about protection of flora and fauna and the species that are becoming extinct at a very fast pace, the prime focus being on the #Great Indian Bustard. The critically endangered status of GIB was explained and videos were screened.

Students were so sensitised and moved by the conservation emergency faced by the GIB that they enthusiastically wrote suggestions on post cards to Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Gujarat and our Prime Minister. Not only this, students of Middle School have formed a GIB-Task Force and their concerns have been recorded and shared widely. TCF truly appreciates this support of India's young green warriors!

                                           Conserving Heralds of Rich Harvest...

Amur Falcon is a long distance migrant bird well known to the people of Tamenglong district of Manipur. Thousands of these beautiful birds reach Tamenglong during their migratory journey, where they are hunted in large numbers by local communities.

To address this issue, TCF, jointly with The Rainforest Club and Manipur Forest Department launched an awareness campaign in Tamenglong, Khongjaron,  Bhalok, Puching, Guangram, Duiluan, Rengkhung and Noney areas. The sole purpose of this campaign was to consistently raise awareness among the community on the importance of conserving Amur Falcon.

Posters appealing people to stop hunting Amur Falcons were displayed at many places on walls, community centers, market areas followed by awareness programmes. The campaign team interacted with the villagers and talked about the ecological importance of Amur Falcons.

A ray of hope gleamed with youth and kids being very enthusiastic to know about the bird but when the hunters surrendered their guns to the village council, all our efforts seemed worth it. TCF surely did not miss the shot!

                                                         World Diabetes Day

Today diabetes is a concern for every family. With awareness playing crucial role, diabetes is preventable with balanced diet, regular physical activity and healthy living conditions.

On the World Diabetes Day, TCF Corbett, organized a program at Government Higher Secondary School, Dobriya to create awareness about signs, symptoms, and risk factors involved in all types of Diabetes. The program focussed on importance of early diagnosis and treatment of the disease to prevent the further complications.

                                                             Insight with Excite

The US Consulate General, Mumbai and The Corbett Foundation joined hands to screen a film on 'Big Cats' in Mumbai. This stupendous short movie on these extraordinary animals left the audience awestruck and deeply touched!

The film screening was followed by an interaction on 'Promoting Wildlife Conservation in India' facilitated by astute speaker and wildlife conservationist Mr Kedar Gore, Director of TCF that captured momentum, getting everyone on board in a minute. His presentation on the hard facts of the conservation scenario in India was indeed an eye-opener for the audience.

Trustee Meet and Visit to Project Sites

TCF's Annual Board of Trustee meeting was held in Bandhavgarh in November followed by a field visit to TCF's project ‘Preserving What’s Precious’ supported by Jet Privilege Pvt. Ltd.

This project is being implemented by TCF in Bandhavgarh-Sanjay Dubri Corridor and primarily aims at conservation of tigers and maintaining corridor viability through active community participation.

Trustees visited sites of installed solar pumps and areas of reforestation. They appreciated the immense efforts taken by TCF team and were happy to see the progress of the project.

                                                     Caring for the Unsung Heros

This Daan Utsav, Alia Bhatt, through her organisation COEXIST, pledged her support to The Corbett Foundation. Alia Bhatt, an ambassador for Daan Utsav of 2018, shared her personal wardrobe through an initiative ‘Mi Wardrobe Su Wardrobe’ for entire week 1st – 7th October. With this her fans had the opportunity to pick outfits from Alia’s wardrobe and the proceeds were handed over to The Corbett Foundation to
support a good cause.

The funds raised were invested to provide water purifiers in the 50 remote forest check posts of Kanha Tiger Reserve where pure water was a critical issue.
