ANNOUNCEMENTS
UPDATE FROM ED STEIN

I am home from the hospital after surgery for bladder cancer (complete recovery expected). Thanks to all the heroic docs and nurses who braved this epidemic to care for folks like me, and for people in much more serious condition, to friends and family members who cheered me on, and most of all to Lisa Hartman, the amazing woman who consented to share my life, in sickness and in health, more than 40 years ago. Would not have made it through without her rock-solid love and support. And a special thanks to the Kohelet community. Your prayers and kind wishes have seen me through to this point. It was a long and complicated surgery with a long recovery ahead, but I look forward to seeing you all in person, when I am physically able and when this world-wide calamity has eased.

HOW TO JOIN FUTURE SHABBAT SERVICES VIA ZOOM
Saturdays, 10:00 am

My apologies for the confusion in getting into services last Shabbat via Zoom. Zoom has upped their security settings. They were supposed to roll it out of April 5, but for some reason they decided to do it early. The following link will give you more information about the Zoom changes:  https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360041408732

Here is how this will affect us:

1. Each meeting will now have a randomly generated  ID number and password. It will change every weekYou will receive a blast out e-mail each Friday morning with a Zoom invitation. You will be able to join via the link or manually. If you lose the email, call, text, or email me and I will give you the numbers you need.

2. Everyone will be sent to Waiting Room first. I will admit you, and if there is someone unknown to us, I will remove that person.

3. If, on the extremely small chance that a undesirable person gets in, I can remove them from the meeting as soon as I find out that they do not belong there.

This is an evolving process and we are looking at other platforms in case Zoom turns out to not in our best interests. Our safety and security, as well as ease in accessing services are our primary concerns. Thank you for bearing with us, and be on the look out for the blast out on Friday.

On Thursday, April 16, the last day of Passover, we will hold a virtual Passover/Yizkor service at 9:30 am via Zoom. We will be able to screen share the Yizkor booklet so that all can participate.  The service will be led by Chuck, and Jonathan will read Torah. We will do a blast out the day before (April 15) with the Meeting ID and password required. Hope to see as many Kohelet members there as possible.

FREE GROCERY DELIVERY FROM ALTAMIRA FOODS

Bruce and Nora Schrutt, among Kohelet's original members, have owned Altamira Foods for years.  They supply various restaurants and grocery stores with a large assortment of high quality, gourmet foods.  As the restaurant industry has taken an enormous hit, so has their business. So they are now making these products available to the public, and their deliveries are FREE (for orders of over $50) and NEXT DAY!!

They are working with Fresh Guys Produce and Uppercut Meats to deliver chef-quality ingredients to your door.  Robyn has ordered twice from them now with very good results.

See their website at www.Altamiradoorstep.com for more information, and to order.

TALKS BY SUSAN HEITLER

I am writing to invite you to join for a series of short interactive talks I'll being doing via Zoom. The goal of the series is to turn the emotional challenges posed by the coronavirus into an opportunity for building the skills for living an ever-more-loving life.

Jordan Polevoy, a former Denver native who lives currently in Raanana, Israel, initiated these talks. He is building a website that will host Israel-based talks, yoga and meditation classes, and more to help make this a time of thriving for all of us.

If you should want to join but the timing is problematic, the talks will be posted shortly, possibly within a week, on Jordan's soon-to-be-launched website.

Please see the attached flyer (below). The attachment includes the times of the talk in each time-zone.

In addition, here is the ZOOM link to the talk.

WE STAND DIVIDED: BOOK DISCUSSION
Wed., May 6 8-9:30 p.m. by Zoom

We Stand Divided: The Rift Between American Jews and Israel
by Daniel Gordis

This book delineates the long history of the rift between American Jews and Israel, from before the establishment of the State of Israel. Are Jews a religious group or a nation? Americans, the author posits, tend to think of Jews as a religious group, while Israelis think of Jews as a nation, with all shades of gray in between. The author also talks about the importance for both groups of listening to and cooperating with, the other.

The book is relatively short. If you are interested in taking part in this discussion, please email Daniel.savin@cuanschutz.edu.

DONATING TO MDA

Members,

At our last annual meeting most agreed that support for Israel, as one of the pillars of our religion, could  be a priority for the coming year.

I suggested that Magan David Adom, Israel's emergency response organization  would  be an excellent target for our contributions.

At this critical time during the CoVid  pandemic, I hope you would agree, this would be a good time for Kohelet members to seriously consider significant donations to MDA.

Christine Borst (Misty Davidson)
Many Kohelet members have young grandchildren or at least know young children. This may be a particularly difficult time for them. Christine Borst, a clinical psychologist and children's author based in Colorado Springs has written and illustrated a book explaining coronavirus to children. The book is informative and comforting to both children and adults. By clicking on the following link, you can download it it pdf form to share with the young children in your lives.
