MEALS FOR THE HOMELESS CHRISTMAS MORNING
Wed., December 25 8:00 a.m.

Members of Kohelet will once again be participating in the preparation and delivery of ~1500 meals for the homeless on Christmas morning at Lowry Community Church (855 Yosemite).  We plan to arrive at 8am on December 25. The work is usually finished between 11 and 12.  You don't have to stay till the end, and you can arrive late. Those who participated in the past have universally found the experience to be rewarding. Please let Bennett (parnesb@gmail.com) know if you plan to join us--he will keep everyone posted on any last minute details or changes.

RECAP OF LAST WEEK'S EVENT

The topic was the GEERZ therapeutic biking program for children in Israel. It was a very inspirational evening, and we are sorry that more people from Kohelet were not able to attend.

Here is a comment from Jeff Z. who was there: "I always knew that Israelis bring magic to any field they touch. And still they continue surprising me. This Israeli organization has proven results restoring sick children to normal life, where doctors fail. The stories they told us about the children are amazing. The magic is done via the combination of mountains and biking with best therapeutic teaching qualities. They work with all kinds of children. Some live in the villages where they suffer daily from rocket attacks, and some live in well-established towns. I was shocked to know that some border villages have been bombarded with over 140 rocket attacks during just 6 months. This is a terrible number, terrible truth unfortunately not well known. Still children in the program are consistently getting better, often becoming assistant leaders themselves - instructors in the group."

THE LATEST FROM JERUSALEM U.

Nora and Bruce Schrutt were founding members of Kohelet.  Their son Max and daughter-in-law Jennifer Schrutt made aliyah from Denver to Israel several years ago.

Long an advocate for Israel when she lived in Denver, Jennifer, now working with Jerusalem U, is aiming to strengthen American Jewish students as they face unprecedented anti-Semitic and anti-Israel attitudes on their college campuses.  Bravo to Jennifer on this essential work.

HIGHLIGHT: ISRAEL

Henry Ford was a notorious and vocal anti-Semite. His grandson was a vocal Zionist.

The first Ford Escorts – with tires, batteries and paint “Made in Israel” – came off the Nazareth production line in the spring of 1968.

Bill Ford, current executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company and Henry Ford’s great-grandson, visited Israel in 2019 to inaugurate the new Ford Research Center in Tel Aviv.
