ANNOUNCEMENTS

2021 ANNUAL MEETING

Dear Kohelet Congregation,

It's been a tough year, but Kohelet has continued functioning and offers community and spiritual support to many of us. Let's keep it going!  Our annual meeting is coming up soon on January 31. Kohelet depends and thrives on all members pitching in. Please pitch in by clicking the links below for committee sign ups and Shabbat (including dvar torah) signups and put your name down for at least one committee. We cannot do this without you! If you have a topic that you would like to discuss at the annual meeting, please let Misty or I know.

PSALMS

We have been reading Psalms at Kohelet Shabbat services. We continue here sequentially with excerpts and commentary.

We are familiar with this psalm from our Shabbat service. God is revealed in both nature and Torah but only Torah teaches us how to relate to God.

Psalm 19: The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament tells of his handiwork. Day follows day and night follows night.
The sun rejoices as a warrior running on course. Yet, the Torah of Hashem is perfect restoring the soul and imparting wisdom.
God gladdens the heart and enlightens us with clear commands. His judgments are true and always righteous; sweeter than honey.

Nature opens a door to appreciate the gifts of HaShem.
The order of the world gives structure and comfort allowing us to better hear the teaching of Torah.

WALKING BUDDY

If anyone is up for walking on a warmer day, please contact me: jenngrin@comcast.net or 303-913-6731. I would enjoy walking with one or two others. We would be masked and space ourselves appropriately apart.

VIRTUAL BAT MITZVAH
Sat., Feb. 6, 9-11 a.m.

You will be receiving an invitation from Marion Sills and Adam Feerst to their daughter Hannah's virtual bat mitzvah at Temple Emanuel. The invitation will contain directions for RSVP'ing and signing on. The bat mitzvah will take place on February 6. There will be no Shabbat services at Kohelet that day, as many of our service leaders and members will be attending the bat mitzvah. We hope everyone can attend.

OUR HISTORIC TORAH

As many of you know one of our Torahs (the one we are not able to read from) survived the Holocaust and came from Trest, Czechoslovakia. Its certificate is posted in the lobby of our building. The Memorial Scrolls Trust (MST) is a British organization that has preserved Torah Scrolls from all over the Czech Republic and works to find home for them. Check our their website for same fascinating reading about their work and about an era in history that should never be forgotten:
