ANNOUNCEMENTS

PSALMS
We have been reading psalms at Kohelet Shabbat services and will continue sequentially with these brief excerpts and comments

Psalm 4
David addresses his enemies led by Absolom, his son, calling their attention to being misguided, saying:
“O sons of great men, how long will you put my honor to shame and love futility.
Reflect silently in your hearts when on your bed.
Be righteousness in sacrifice and trust in HaShem. Then the light of your face will shine upon us all.
I lie down in peace and harmony knowing HaShem will make me safe and secure.

David now sings his song admonishing his enemies, exhorting them to repent, and finding his own comfort in God’s presence.

TORAH DISCUSSIONS

The first time I led a Torah discussion  I was terrified. I was sure that I knew nothing and all the knowledgeable people in the congregation would put me to shame. That never happened. Instead, I delved into a parsha and learned a tremendous amount, and I had an amazing amount of help and support from those more knowledgeable than I. It was an incredible opportunity for growth. We have numerous openings for Torah discussion leaders  between now and the Holidays. You don't need to be a Judaicic scholar to do this. All you need is the desire to stretch yourself a bit. Anyone in the congregation will be willing to help you if you ask. If you have led  a Torah discussion in the past, please consider signing up again. If you haven't, please consider giving it a try. You can sign up on the website. Also please contact Judith Cohen (
cohenjudithx@gmail.com).
