ANNOUNCEMENTS

RABBI SACKS' BOOK DISCUSSION

In light of Clean Speech month, as well as to honor the extraordinary life of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, all Koheletans are invited to a book discussion group over the next month.  We will discuss Rabbi Sacks’ book, The Dignity of Difference.  Within the book Rabbi Sacks "argues that we must do more than search for values common to all faiths; we must also reframe the way we see our differences.” I think this will be a useful launching pad for a discussion among us about how to engage in civil discourse, even among those with whom we disagree strongly.  I hope many of you will join me. The plan is to discuss the book after services on December 12, and then January 9th.  We can discuss the first half on Dec. 12, and the second half on January 9th.

KEEPING OUR NEWSLETTER RELEVANT

Our newsletter serves several purposes. It keeps us informed on Kohelet's activities, of course, as well as  significant events in our members' lives. We also try to include items of spiritual depth (the Psalms that Neiel posts every week, for example) and items that stimulate our thinking. We are asking for your help. While we will not publish articles that are overly political in nature, we welcome articles on Jewish culture, history, or spirituality. Articles on Holocaust issues ro antisemitism are always timely and relevant. If you have something that you feel is worth sharing, please submit it to Eliza (admin@kohelet.org) or to Dan or Misty.

GENERATIONAL TRAUMA

Although the Holocaust is long over and many survivors are no longer alive, the trauma goes on to affect subsequent generations. To learn more, click on the link below.
