MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT LAX BY FEDERAL LAW

The attached TSA Security Directive (here) requiring that all individuals wear masks in or on airport property is now in effect. It will remain in effect until further notice.

Although, as you know, masks have been required on all LAWA property since May 2020, there are some important differences in the TSA directive regarding enforcement, what types of masks may be worn, and when and for how long masks may be removed. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

The new Security Directive requires that airports and their partners must make their best effort to provide individuals with prominent and adequate notice of mask requirements to facilitate awareness and compliance. For those not wearing a face mask, employees must ask the individual(s) to put them on. If someone refuses to wear a mask in the airport, they may be removed from the airport, denied re-entry and/or be subject to additional penalties under federal law.

We urge you to share this information with your employees and customers so they know what to expect at the airport – whether they are departing from, arriving at, or working at LAX, and whether they are in our terminals, on a bus, or taking a break.
