Situational Awareness
Aircraft cutoffs have the potential to be extremely dangerous. If an aircraft is cut-off and forced to suddenly stop, it may cause injuries to the crew and passengers and damage to the aircraft. The driver of the vehicle may be cited and driving privileges suspended or revoked.

Maintaining situational awareness while driving on the airfield is extremely important. Always drive at a speed appropriate for the conditions. This speed may be significantly slower than the speed limit during periods of reduced visibility or heavy congestion. Do not use electronic devices or perform other tasks (eating, writing, etc) while driving. Be vigilant for cues of impending aircraft movement such as wing walkers, anti-collision lights, and increased aircraft engine noise.
Remember Aircrafts ALWAYS have the right away!
Aircraft Cutoff - Areas of Concern
Area of Concern #1 - VSR C at Taxiway Papa / November
This location has a long zipper marking (VSR / Taxiway intersection). Before driving across this area, scan far down the taxiways to ensure that no aircraft are approaching.
Area of Concern #2 - VSR C to Terminal 5
There has been multiple aircraft cutoff while pushing back from Gate 59. Before crossing over to Terminal 5, drivers should stop and see if any aircraft is about to pushback from Gate 59. Look for visual cues such as wing walkers, anti-collision lights, and a detached jetbridge.
Area of Concern #3/4 - VSR C at Taxiway C4 & C5
Drivers on Vehicle Service Road C crossing Taxiways C5 and C4 should be cautious of smaller aircraft such as Cessna’s and RJ’s transitioning through these intersections with American Eagle Terminal open again.
