Many philanthropic studies and reports indicate that donor-advised funds (DAFs) are growing at an unprecedented rate, creating opportunities for nonprofit organizations all over the country to tap into new money. In fact, today there are over 270,000 donor-advised funds representing $80 billion in assets just in the U.S.

According to Daniel Matz, manager and content developer for Foundation Center’s portal, “We're witnessing a second philanthropic boom. And that seemingly inexhaustible river of "private wealth for public good" brings with it the ideas and voices of those who, having made vast fortunes, are now determined to put that money to use. How society responds to and channels that torrent of money while making sure the ideas it funds best serve the interests of the American people is of broad concern.”
