Insurers Exit from Rural ACA Plans
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, as many as 19% of all marketplace enrollees across the U.S. could have only one insurer choice going into 2017, compared with only 2% of enrollees in 2016. In rural counties, numbers increase: 41% of marketplace enrollees will have only one carrier to choose from for marketplace policies in 2017, compared with 7% in 2016. Review  here

Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment
Open enrollment for individual health insurance plans under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act begins November 1st, 2016, continuing through January 31, 2017. ' Enroll Palm Beach' of the Health Council of Southeast Florida is a collaborative of community partners coordinating Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast enrollment efforts here
National Rural Health Day 2016
Nearly 62 million
 Americans live in rural and frontier communities that have unique health care needs. The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) sets aside the 3rd Thursday of each November to celebrate National Rural Health Day. See more about November 17th, 2016 here
Task Force for 1st Nutrition Strategic Plan
The National Institutes of Health Nutrition Research Task Force (NRTF) was established to accelerate progress in nutrition research across the NIH and guide the development of the first NIH-wide strategic plan for nutrition research. More  here
Who Are the Remaining Uninsured?
The  report references notable shifts in the demographic composition of 'uninsureds' since the law’s major coverage expansions went into effect in 2014. Characteristics of the remaining uninsured adults, and their reasons for not enrolling in marketplace plans or Medicaid, examined here

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement's white paper, Achieving Health Equity: A Guide for Health Care Organizations, offers a primer on terms that are important to the discussion of health equity. Here are some of the key terms to know  here
Recognizing Trauma in Engaging Patients
The landmark 'Adverse Childhood Experiences' study linked traumatic childhood experiences to leading causes of U.S. morbidity and mortality. Some primary care practices have begun adopting the principles of 'trauma-informed care' to engage patients whose childhood and adult experiences may be affecting their health and willingness to seek care. Review  here
