The Three Steps to Fall Lawn Care
If you’re feeling tired, worn out and scorched around the edges after a long, sizzling summer, imagine how your lawn feels. You both could probably use a little revitalization.
For many home gardeners, early autumn is the ideal time to revitalize the lawn. A complete fall lawn care program includes three key elements: core aerating, fertilizing and overseeding. Taking the proper steps can give you great home-turf advantage this season!
Sedum

While some home gardeners find maintaining a lawn worth the effort, others find it to be a burden. If caring for turfgrass is too much for you, your lifestyle and budget, consider replacing your lawn with groundcovers. With careful consideration and plant selection, even having a portion of your yard planted in groundcovers can save money, water and time, as well as bring interest to your outdoor space. If you’d like to give this a try, consider low-growing sedums. These tough succulents can survive many tricky garden areas and look great doing it – without much water.

Dwarf Lilyturf
If you like the idea of having a grass-like plant in your yard without turf-like maintenance, consider this evergreen groundcover. Dwarf lilyturf is a tough, creeping perennial with short, leathery, dark green leaf blades. In summer, short spikes of small, tubular, purplish-white flowers appear. Dark blue berry-like fruit follows. The plant grows best in partial sun to shade and moist, humus-rich soil with good drainage. It doesn’t tolerate wet soils. Enjoy this versatile beauty along walkways, bed edges or as a low groundcover.
