Dear family in Christ, ,
According to historians and linguists, Taiwan is considered the common ancestral home of the Austronesian peoples. The ancestors of Taiwan have spread far and wide—eastward to the Pacific islands and westward as far as the east coast of Africa. One such distant land is Madagascar. Though thousands of miles apart, the Malagasy language shares up to 30% similarity with the languages of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples.
Despite its rich natural resources and vibrant culture, Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. Many tribal villages are isolated, without electricity or roads. Cut off from the world, they are places rarely visited or cared for by outsiders. This time, our team ventured deep into the jungle to reach these indigenous tribal communities. Many of the people had only recently come to faith. Through God’s Word, we were able to encourage them and witness His purpose unfolding in their lives. One villager shared, “For years, we cried out to the government, hoping someone would care for us, but no one ever came. Only until you arrived did we come to know that God had never forgotten about us.”
We pray that the resurrected Christ, through the united love and care of brothers and sisters in Christ, would rekindle a living hope among these forgotten tribes through His grace.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” - 1 Peter 1:3
