The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. #RealCollege Releases 2020 National Report on Basic Needs Insecurity among Higher Ed Students

Greetings colleagues:
Many of you may be familiar with the work of the #RealCollege initiative out of the Hope Center based at Temple University. #RealCollege is a leading national voice in researching and addressing issues of basic needs insecurity among higher education students. #RealCollege has released its 2020 national report.
#RealCollege 2020: Five Years of Evidence on Basic Needs Insecurity
5 years after it began, the #RealCollege survey has now reached more than 330,000 students at more than 400 colleges and universities. Some of the report's findings are:
- 39% of respondents were food insecure in the prior 30 days
- 46% of respondents were housing insecure in the previous year
- 17% of respondents were homeless in the previous year
