The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. NCHE invites you to join us for The Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool webinar on June 3rd, 2021. 

 

Join the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) where we will be showcasing the Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool. Many youth and young adults experiencing homelessness have shared that they are interested in pursuing education and training despite the challenges of housing instability, but often are not aware of the options available to them. Educators, case managers, navigators, and other service providers have shared that they would like to have more intentional conversations with youth and young adults experiencing homelessness about their education goals but aren’t sure how to go about it. The webinar will introduce the Education Goals and Supports: A Guided Discussion Tool giving participants the opportunity to tour the tool and be provided suggestions for how to use the tool to guide clients in a discussion of their education and career interests and goals. The webinar will also allow participants to consider partnership opportunities in their communities for referring clients to education and other basic needs services.
