Dear colleagues:
Today marks the first day of National Runaway Prevention Month (NRPM), spearheaded by the National Runaway Safeline, and supported by many partners, including the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE).
NRPM is the annual awareness and prevention campaign for runaway and homeless youth issues. Every November, participants across the country host activities and events that amplify the experiences of runaway and homeless youth and the role everyone plays in ending youth homelessness.
The goals of NRPM are two-fold:
- To raise awareness of the runaway and homeless youth crisis and the issues that these young people face
- To educate the public about solutions and the role they can play in ending youth homelessness
For simple ways to participate in NRPM visit
https://www.1800runaway.org/nrpm/. Options include:
- Adding an NRPM frame to your Facebook profile picture
- Participating in Wear Green Day (Nov 6)
- Participating in a Light the Night candlelight vigil (Nov 13)
- Sharing statistics about youth homelessness on social media on Teachable Tuesday (Nov 20)
- Participation in the NRPM Twitter Chat (Nov 29)
The National Runaway Safeline has also made available a variety of planning and promotional materials, including a national event flyer, a sample press release, a toolkit and messaging guide, and a community PowerPoint presentation, at

Thank you for supporting National Runaway Prevention Month 2018!
Best,
