Dear colleagues:
On Monday, July 30, 2018, the Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Technical Assistance (TA) Center and UNICEF USA’s End Trafficking Project will host a 1-hour Twitter chat as a part of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons to discuss the role of education agencies in protecting and assisting trafficked youth and kids. Given the greater likelihood of victimization through trafficking of young people experiencing homelessness, NCHE will be participating in the Twitter chat and invites you to join in and contribute.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), stewards of this international awareness day, will join the chat, along with other national and local organizations that work with educational communities to protect youth and kids from trafficking. Participants will describe the various forms of trafficking impacting youth and debunk myths; highlight the role of schools, school districts, and institutions of higher education in prevention, response, and recovery; and share action steps the whole school and campus community can take to protect and assist trafficked persons.
Join and contribute to the conversation using the steps below.
- Log on to Twitter on Monday, July 30, between 2:30 to 3:30 PM ET.
- Input the #EveryChildFree hashtag into the search bar, and select “Latest” from the options that appear below the search bar.
