The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Implementing Social Media and Outreach Strategies in Your McKinney-Vento Program: Tips and Best Practices

 

This NCHE webinar will deepen understanding of the communications landscape to include digital and print media and assesses communication needs and capacity for starting and maintaining a communication presence to determine possibilities for outreach; review the federal law language requiring outreach and coordination efforts for SEAs and LEAs; demonstrate firsthand examples of best practices in action about the use and effectiveness of social media and outreach methods from three states (Montana, Nevada and Pennsylvania) who will share their experiences using various outreach methods including social media to help elevate the requirements in the federal law and to assist with training, communication, and identification efforts in their states; and highlight NCHE resources to support this work.
