Greetings colleagues:
As we approach the start of the 2020/2021 school year, it’s safe to say that this will be a very different back-to-school season. For youth experiencing homelessness, education instability during the COVID-19 pandemic has been especially devastating. So how can youth service organizations, Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) grantees, and education professionals work together to keep all students on track and succeeding during these difficult times?
On July 23, 2020 from 3–4 PM ET
(please adjust for your time zone), the National Clearinghouse on Homeless Youth & Families is hosting a live panel discussion. The webinar will focus on how youth service organizations and education professionals can work together to ensure homeless youth get the help and services they need during the upcoming school year. The session will focus primarily on supporting K12 education access and success, but will include nods to connections to higher education, as well.
Panelists will include:
- Christina Dukes, Deputy Director, Partnerships and Policy at the National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE)
- Sheila Catron, Executive Director at the Children’s Aid Society of West Texas
- Ben Thornton II, Director of Outreach and Housing Initiatives, Anchor House, Inc.
