The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. Event Information: Understanding the FAFSA Form to Support Homeless Youth and Other Vulnerable Populations
Representatives from the U.S Department of Education will provide a free training for grantees, counselors, and agency professionals to provide insight into the federal financial aid process and filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA® form). Attendees will learn best practices about the application along with tools and resources to assist unaccompanied, homeless, and foster youth as they prepare for college. There will also be an interactive chat to share best practices and discuss barriers along with a demo to share what to expect when filling out the form.
