The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. New HHS Report:
Early Childhood Homelessness in the United States

Good morning, colleagues:
Recently, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released an updated version of its
Early Childhood Homelessness in the United States: 50-State Profile report.
This June 2017 report from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF) provides a snapshot of early childhood data available for children who are experiencing homelessness in each state and the District of Columbia, and aims to serve as a tool for communities in planning to meet the needs of vulnerable children. The report updates a January 2016 report by incorporating publicly available 2014-2015 data, and incorporating two new data points: the percentage of families experiencing a high housing cost burden, and the percentage of low-income working families with young children under 6.
