The National Center for Homeless Education (NCHE) operates the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance and information center for the federal Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. NCHE is based at The SERVE Center at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). NCHE hosts this Homeless Education Mailing List to share information and resources with educators, service providers, and other interested stakeholders about meeting the educational needs of children and youth experiencing homelessness. As we head into the summer months, NCHE would like to remind you about the resources available through the USDA's National Hunger Clearinghouse.

The National Hunger Clearinghouse provides information about food resources in communities, including summer meals for children 18 years and younger in low-income communities. The Clearinghouse maintains a database of non-governmental, grassroots organizations that provide food assistance, and also operates the USDA National Hunger Hotline. Contact the Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE to speak with a representative who will find food resources near your location.
