"My name is Lex and I am thrilled to be joining the NPL team. I've worked in libraries since I was 15 and my favorite parts of this new role are getting to meet new community members and working with the kiddos during Kids Korner! If you ever see me around feel free to come say hi (especially if you have pictures of a cute cat to share or a Sci-Fi book recommendation/request)." |

An award-winning short film on Wladyslaw Wojnas (Walter), whose watchmaker's bench and tools are on display at the Hoffman Clock Museum, will be shown by California writer/film maker Mark Brown at the Newark Public Library in the Community Room on Wednesday, April 30th from 1 – 2:30 pm. Walter's heartfelt story is described at the Museum.
Walter was a Holocaust survivor who immigrated from Poland after WWII and became an accomplished watchmaker. After he passed away, the contents of his watch shop were bequeathed to his good friend Roberto Ioannucci, who in turn, generously donated it to the Hoffman Clock Museum.
The film also will be shown at the George Eastman House International Film Festival on May 1st. Please join us in viewing this inspirational film.
Additional information on the film can be found at: filmfreeway.com/WatchingWalter057

"For almost 20 years I have served the Newark Public Library. During this time I have pursued ways to enhance services and decrease spending. I believe that Benjamin Franklin, in creating American Public Libraries, set in motion what is one of the cornerstones of a successful and meaningful community.
There are some things that are in motion that I would like to see finished to help the Library grow and be protected for future generations.
If anyone would like to call me please feel free to do so: 315-573-1939." |

"My name is Sue. Some of you may know me as Mrs. O., the Speech Language Pathologist from Lincoln School; some of you may know me from Girl Scouts, some of you may know me as that lady who works at The Apple Shed, and some of you may just know me as Sue who lives in Newark with her husband, Mo.
I have lived in Newark for over 30 years and worked within the school district for 34 years. I found it invaluable to have worked in the same district where I lived. I have had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people, the privilege to provide services, and to call many of you, my friend. Our two older kids, Emily and Matt, have grown and are on their own paving new pathways for themselves in this adventure called life whereas our youngest, Michael, is attending college pursuing a career in nursing.
Since my retirement in 2018 I have begun to supervise a graduate-level program through Nazareth University in the summers as I am not completely ready to turn in my “SLP hat” yet. This was a great replacement for the supervision of student therapists during the school year. I have also had the opportunity to become more involved with local organizations. I now call The Apple Shed my new “work home” and have been fortunate to share seven seasons with them to date. The Newark Public Library also continues to cultivate my love of books and engaging activities. Currently, I am completing my first 5-year term on the Board in the role of Vice President. Additionally, I have also served on the Personnel Committee and the Policy Committee. Our library and OWWL system have so much to offer. They are treasures! I am grateful for your support in running for reelection and look forward to being able to continue to serve our wonderful local library and Newark community." |
