Carrot is a biennial plant widespread in Europe and common in Eastern Canada. The dark spot surrounded by compound umbels of white flowers makes it easily recognizable. Researchers speculate the purplish spot mimicks an insect in order to attract pollinators.
Wild carrot, also known as Queen Anne's lace, prefers the uncultivated areas around human settlements. The essential oil is full of vitality as our childhood memories of healthy carrots and carrot juice intuitively suggest. A big part of this nurturing aspect is vested in its high content of carotol and other carrot-specific sesquiterpenes.
