The Hidden Gem
Mastick essential oil is a hidden gem in the aromatherapy universe.
With regards to circulatory issues it is a surprisingly specific tonic for venous and lymphatic circulation. Uniquely it also has a direct connection to male issues as it helps with all prostate problems.
With its unusual astringent qualities this oil lends itself as the main component for synergies addressing varicose veins, hemorrhoids and, according to French Style Aromatherapy also endocarditis and thrombosis. It is furthermore used for leg and gastric ulcers and bedsores. Mastick essential oil is an integral part in the aromatherapy treatment of prostatitis, benign prostate hyperplasia as well as non benign prostate conditions.
Mastick,
Pistacia lentiscus, is often blended with Atlas Cedarwood, Spearmint and Helichrysum (Varicose Veins). Other blending options are Clove, Patchouli and Helichrysum for general prostate issues and Atlas Cedarwood, Cassia, and Clove for non benign prostate issues. A common base oil for Mastick synergies is Callophyllum, Tamanu and/or infused oil of St. Johnswort.
Mastick grows readily in the landscapes surrounding the Mediterranean basin. Its fragrance is almost turpentine like and fresh balsamic distinctly different from most other essential oil.
